Hello, tell us about yourself. How you got into music?
hi. my nickname is macho and i am from slovakia. I listened to electronic music as everyone else and then tried and tried to do some own stuff. After few years i have produced something, which i think was good enough to spread it into the world. So i wrote to lot of labels and finally some of them answered. I began to work with VIM Records, which offered me to do also remixes for them. Then i started also my own label Breaks.sk, which was originaly web magazine about breakbeat, and did remixes for Digital Sensation UK and 13breakz. In last days i have also signed to spanish Raveart Records.
Why did you launch Breaks.sk Records?
- Main idea was to encourage slovak producers to do more breaks music. But they are producing everything else except breakbeat
I am releasing also my own tracks, when i dont want to wait on another labels. Today is problem to attract some producers or remixers to do stuff for young label, cause they can choose another label, which has better promo, is well known etc.
Tell us about upcoming releases at Breaks.sk Records.
- Next release will be two tracks from me, including remix from Digibox and also upcoming producers from Hungary – Vida G & Stefan. For next year is prepared release from russian newcomer K-beatz with remixes from Andy Faze and One of Bra. Finally have also some material from other slovak producers, so maybe that will come out next, dont know exactly yet.
What can you tell about breaks scene in Slovakia?
- Not much at the moment. You know, from time to time is some party, but only with local djs. No foreign. Mostly people are going to commercial disco than to party. Slovakia is currently dnb country. So i usually play breakbeat on some dnb party. Lot of people dont know, what breakbeat is, etc.. but that is problem of breakbeat in whole world, except some countries.
Can you review our site? Is our site easy to use, because it allows any
registered user / representative of the label to create it’s own news?
- I think that every label representative works with internet, news, content and all that stuff and your site is based on famous content management system, so its not difficult. Maybe you can do some little tutorial for people who are working with this for first time, something like tutorial video.
Any chance you can give away a track for free for the BreakBeat News readers?
- Sure, here is my remix of Viro and Rob Analyze feat. Odissi – Social suicide from remix competition.
What methods do you use to advertise your record label and upcoming
releases? Are you willing to spend money on banner ads and do you
consider it effective?
- Didnt try banner campagin yet.. i use social networks, music forums, videos and also sending tunes to selected djs and producers to get some feedback. I work in IT and know that banner adds arent so effective, but who knows, maybe in music industry its different. So maybe in future will think about it. Currently Breaks.sk is very young label, think i must focus on quality tunes.
